I’ve never been to San Diego Comic Con.
Regretted not going in 2009, when Tori Amos, among others, publicized the then-forthcoming Comic Book Tattoo.
Had tickets in 2010, but gave them up so I could throw a surprise birthday party, which, as is clear with retrospect, triggered a series of unfortunate events (read: miscalculations) which led me to a psychiatric hospital.
Snagged a print of Comic Book Tattoo signed during the 2009 event by several of the book’s artists, and I managed to find a still-wrapped-in-plastic Dollhouse Season One DVD, the 2010 SDCC edition, which Joss Whedon signed. Rumor is a letter from Joss is included with the DVD, but I haven’t opened it, so I don’t know for sure.
Couldn’t get away in 2011. Kids made going impossible.
Thought about going this year, but couldn’t rationalize the cost.
Wish I had been there. Neil Gaiman and JH Williams III are collaborating on a six-issue Sandman comic book, which will come out sometime next year. The story, which has remained untold for 25 years, reunites Gaiman with the character for whom he is best known.
After DC announced the series, Williams signed limited edition prints of Sandman art, for which I would have waited in line for hours if necessary to own. I’ll probably find one on ebay.
