Do We?, a fiction published in InDigest

Using the Dewey Decimal System as my organizing principle, the world of Do We? (get it?) emerged. 

000 – Computer science, information & general works

▪      001 Knowledge

I meet him online. Or he meets me online. He messages me first. And I am in bed, bored, online because online is how I meet men, and an alert window opens on my phone, because I use my phone to go online to meet men, and I read his e-mail, and what he writes makes me laugh, and I respond, and what I write must intrigue him, or what I write must make him laugh, because we begin volleying e-mails.

Him:    So many of the men here are just here to play games.

Me:      I’m not big on games.

Him:    I like chess.

Me:     Do you have a favorite piece?

Him:   The queen. Always the queen.

Me:     If you’re the queen, I’ll be your knight

Him:   Will you be my white knight in shining armor?

Me:     Promise to ride me all night long?

Him:   Lol.
